Traveling with A Portable Oxygen Concentrator

faa approved portable oxygen concentrator

A Portable oxygen concentrator (POC) has made traveling with oxygen easy. Imagine doing all the things you used to do or dreamed of doing before you were prescribed oxygen. Maybe you want to visit loved ones without being an inconvenience. Don’t let oxygen hold you back from going on that dream vacation, or to visit your family. This website will walk you through each step, and show you how a Portable Oxygen Concentrator can make travel easy. Many websites just show you different Portable Oxygen Concentrators trying to sell one they want you to buy. I am here to walk you through the process of traveling with oxygen, and how to rent or buy a Portable oxygen concentrator. I will also compare and test, as well as include studies that show you the best POC to buy, so you dont waste your money. You may also call us direct anytime at 1-855-2OXYGEN

Recently new developments by the FAA, have allowed you to bring certain Portable Oxygen Concentrator s on board. You can go right thru TSA security, and on the plane, off the plane, to ground transportation with no problem (and not have to rely on anyone!). Pick you're mode of travel and go! Use on planes, trains, or automobiles.

HOW A PORTABLE OXYGEN CONCENTRATOR WORKS

These Portable Oxygen Concentrator s are battery operated, work with AC, and DC (for car); some even have a plug to use right on the plane. They have the same parts as a large oxygen concentrator but on a smaller scale. A concentrator uses a compressor to push room air through a molecular sieve bed that catches nitrogen, and allows oxygen to go through, thus concentrating oxygen to about 95% pure oxygen. Some people refer to them as Portable oxygen generators, or portable oxygen machines, but the proper term is concentrator. Being smaller used to mean unreliable, with advances in compressor technology, and sieve beds, with some innovation POC are now reliable, and approved FAA, and other modes of travel.

PORTABLE OXYGEN CONCENTRATOR TYPES

There are two types of Portable Oxygen Concentrators, ones that produce a pulsing flow, only when you breathe in, and continuous flow 1-3 liters. The best rated Pulsing POC is the Respironics evergo. If you require more than 4 liters of continuous oxygen Portable Oxygen Concentrator will probably not work for you, but get tested on one to find out before you travel. Pulsing flow POC are allot smaller, because they don’t need to produce as much oxygen. Continuous flow POC just came out in the fall of 2009, there great if you require a continuous flow or if you bleed 02 into your CPAP/BIPAP. I recommend getting tirtated or tested to make sure your oxygen stays above 90% with a pulsing POC (well cover this later). The Sequal Eclipse is the best rated continuous flow portable oxygen concentrator.

Warning!! Do not buy or rent a portable oxygen concentrator from anyone on the internet that is not licensed by their state pharmacy, Insured, bonded, and accredited. I hear stories of those who have and they end up needing repair or service and they don't get supported. Don't buy from someone just selling a machine, get someone who has a physical location, and in the business of servicing oxygen customers.
